These used to be blemishes under the paint that actually looked like bird shit then they painted over it. Now the paint is gone and it looks like shit and it’s rusting.
it is freaking green. Her favorite, I think that’s the only reason she bought this one.
Can’t complain. It’s held up with minor repairs for 202,677 miles. I would like to swap for Torrent rear lights, but why fix it if it’s not broken.

You must be in the rust belt.
Also green cars are usually legendary, an Equinox.... Maybe not as much.

It’ll always be in my memory as a hand me down. :-/
As you say, not quite legendary.
I guess Missouri is the rust belt, they salt the roads for snow.

...I don’t think I’ve ever heard, seen, or remember this Pontiac. This baffles me. It even had a GXP trim and I never knew about it!

My sister had a silver one before they had a 3rd kid and her husband got it for a work car like I’m doing. Theirs was AWD though. And they traded it in when the head gasket went bad.
There was a fancier equinox too same as gxp ( think).

This is basically the successor of the Aztek. Without being all weird.

Eh, when it comes to cars, marriage is a balance between saying I told you so and... not saying that. Insert Carl Sagan’s little blue dot quote here :)

But the weirdness is part of its charm!

...needs tires

She leased it New in 05 before we started dating. Then racked up the miles and bought it.
I would have put my foot down. Also bought one with cruise & AWD ( not sure if awd was a 1st year option)

Yeah, I am going to go for the head gaskets first if I screw that up I won’t have $600 in new tires going away.

200,000 miles, that is amazing and she should be commended for making such a choice.

This was a US market car?

Replace it some time with a rust-free door of a different color from a junkyard and report back her reaction.

Green is good.

Yes. Not exactly a common sight, but I usually see a few a week. Heck, at our old house, our neighbor had a silver one. (Davenport, IA here)

If you vinyl wrap it it will slowly dissolve without anyone noticing, and you can be rid of it without being the bad guy.
Especially if you wrap it in an even better green! Win win!

It’s my get to work appliance. It serves its purpose. When it costs too much to do that it’ll go. It’s no way a classic.

I hope it doesn’t get that bad.
I’ve been known to drive hoopties. This is just the beginning.

Just being cheeky. Nothing wrong with reliable transportation that doesn’t owe ya anything.

It will probably be fine. My wife’s Outback got dinged in a parking lot a few years ago exposing a similar sized bit of metal on the fender. It rusted, but it seems confined to the surface. I need to get into the body shop, but partly I’ve been lazy and partly she doesn’t want to be without it for a few days. But it’s been sitting with rust for quite a while now and so far it hasn’t turned into a mess like older cars would have.

Green IS best, though.

Oh yeah. I’m waiting for it to rust through. Which may take years more.
This is the car may kids were drawing on with gravel from a gravel driveway. It still makes me smile typing it. Its so stupid, kids had no idea. I had just told them not to and go play somewhere else.

Yep, its worth more as an appliance than a pile of rust dust..

Interesting. I’ve also never heard of it, certainly never seen one, as far as I know. Central New Hampshire isn’t exactly a hotbed for carspotting, though. Of any sort. Except rusty ones.
